Sunday afternoon on April 25, 2004 Hardeman/Wilbarger county line on Hwy 91 looking back to the NNW, we were watching this wall cloud as it moved, no rotation that we could see, we then moved back to FM 2379 towards Odell, Texas about 2 miles and we had winds at 35mph with gusts to 51mph measured with Wizard Weather III on top of the vehicle. We then proceeded into Odell and headed south on 432 towards Vernon, Texas. 2 miles out of Odell at the intersection of 432 and 91 we measured winds at 35mph, no rain or hail. We proceeded on 432 to 924 the wind was about the same but we were getting sprinkles, but no hail. About 2 miles down 432 we experienced moderate rain and wind the same. When we reached 287 it started to rain blowing heavily, blowing about 38mph max but we could see several gusts of dust all around that you could see from all directions from Chillicothe to Odell to Vernon. We then proceeded on 287 south into Vernon the blowing rain and the gusts of dust were making it hard to see and wind was about the same. We stopped at the 925 overpass on 287 and were getting heavy, blowing wind. We measured the wind at 35-40 mph. We did not see hardly any lightning in the entire system. KD5PBR ![]()
